Position Summary: Our Portland office is looking for a senior or graduate level graphic designer with a concentrated studyand a demonstrated experience in “digital/website/interactive design.” A BS in graphic design and/orcomputer science is preferred.This is a fast paced program where interns are exposed to a wide variety of branding practices. At the completion of the program interns will have acquired a good understanding of a design firm’s role in developing brand strategy, stewarding design communication tactics, production processes, and assignment organizational procedures to support corporate marketing communications and product marketing groups. Interns also perform general administrative tasks and processes related to businessdevelopment and operations. Interns report to, and work with, creative directors and design teams.
We do expect a working knowledge of website development/programming—but we’re realistic about theskill set of a college senior or graduate level intern. Interns are not expected to understand all items.• XHTML (or HTML5), CSS2/3 • JavaScript and jquery framework• PHP/MySQL development • Facebook and LinkedIn application development • Wordpress development • Google Maps API development • Adobe CS4/CS5 suite• XML and Web Services integrations • SVN working knowledge• Search Engine Optimization• Flash developer (AS3 primary w/ AS2 knowledge) • Flash animation work2 • Mobile website development (css stylesheet based, and hybrid) • Experience with eCommerce products and portal products• Experience with content management systems
Administrative Tasks Include• Answer phone, make coffee, empty trash, filing, FedEx, vacuum and dust (all the fun stuff)• Gathering/organizing secondary research for new business prospecting• Prepare and maintain sales and marketing materials
A Typical Intern’s Week Includes • Attending internal strategy meetings, creative sessions, press checks, photo sessions • Website production, development, and design• Conducting and gathering research• Data entry and administrative support on assigned projects • Filing and retrieving • Providing general gofer duties—anything that’s asked of them
