The department will be offering a screenprinting class in winter 2011. While its NOT online YET (we are waiting for a CRN) it will be called ART 399 Screenprinting. The screenprinting (AKA silkscreening) class is open to GD and ART majors — there will be about 10 spots open in this course.
The course will run from 9-12 on MW mornings and will be taught by Rita Robillard. Watch for the course to show up online in the next week or so! This class will cover simple stencils processes, drawing resist methods, and photo processes in combination with digital prints.
Rita Robillard has taught printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design’ in a class “Billboards, Zines and Artist’s Books” and printmaking classes at the San Francisco Art Institute and Washington State University. Robillard’s mixed-media work has been included in museum and gallery exhibitions, in Santiago, Chile at the Museum of Contemporary Art; Sao Paulo and Curitiba, Brazil; Tokyo; Hangzhou, China; London; and Lacoste, France. Her work is included in over twenty public collections including the Portland Art Museum; Yale University Library; The Los Angeles County Museum of Art; The National Academy of Art, China; Brown University’s Bell Gallery Collection and Museu da Gravura, Curitiba, Brazil.
