If you were around last year, maybe you remember FoGD Student Mentoring! It's a great way to meet new people in the design program, learn some stuff and get more involved! (Below is some copying and pasting from last years, but it's pretty much the same information!)
--
What does it entail? Basically, we'll assign a couple underclassmen to someone who's been through the portfolio review and has learned 'the hard way' all about design, school, (and maybe life). You're free to take it from there - want a weekly coffee date with your mentor/ee? An email check in every day? Something else?
Why are we doing this? There are so many awesome people in our program, but unless you've got classes together, you'll never meet them! We're trying to help you branch out and meet great new people by facilitating connections between upper- and lower-classmen.
If you're interested, let us know (aka send us an email at friendsofgraphicdesign@gmail.com) with your name, year in the program, some strengths and skills you have and would like to share, as well as the kind of mentor relationship you want. Are you more of an email person? Prefer to meet over coffee? We'll use this information to help make matches between upper and lower division students. It's like speed dating but not creepy!
We're planning a kick off Bowling Party, sometime in the next few weeks, when we'll introduce everyone and get started!
Can't wait to hear from everybody!
Thanks FoGD! I'm sharing this post with my students.
