By popular demand, next quarter we'll be having a workshop on how to design a website from the ground up. It'll be a great way to get your feet wet in web design and see what the process is like from start to finish.
In the meantime,
here's a great list of more advanced tools for people who are already pretty familiar with the process. Some of these are pretty nerdcore, while others are huge timesavers for the average designer.
In particular:
Lets you easily send different CSS styles to different browsers on various platforms using a small Javascript file. A handy tool if you're having trouble getting things to look right in all places and your CSS skills aren't yet fully developed.
As
discussed earlier, different browsers have different levels of support for new web
standards. This is a small piece of Javascript that detects whether a browser supports a modern feature and lets you use one style for browsers that support, say, rounded corners, and another style for browsers that don't.
Makes doing CSS-only rollovers a breeze. Takes two images, creates a sprite and the corresponding CSS. Sounds good to me!
There are a lot more tools on this list, so go see what time savers you can find. Have a favorite that's not on this list? Hook us up in the comments.
Hans out.
