Name Nicole Lavelle
Year in program Senior!
Where are you from? San Francisco, California (and Eugene, Oregon) West Coast for life!
What are your favorite colors right now? Gray and green, blue and brown. Colors from outside.
Who are some designers/artists/movements that inspire you? Oh, yikes. Margaret Kilgallen, Steve Powers aka Espo, Jennifer Daniel, Daniel Eatock, Jessica Hische, Scott Barry. People who keep it real.
What are some other things that inspire you? Things written on walls, being immersed in a forest, beaches during summertime, fireplaces, roadtrips, enthusiastic people, show-stopping books that change my life.
How do you spend your free time? Free time? Sleep! Get myself into more time-consuming projects. I send too much email. I sit at my desk and rubber-cement things together. I eat a lot of breakfast out. Cooking dinner for my roommates. Too much internet.
What made you choose Portland? Its proximity to my parents, it's on the West Coast, my friends were here. It was a good choice.
What do you hope to do with your design degree? Collaborate! Make beautiful things that compel people to feel. Curate + edit books. Travel and have other people pay for it.What do you wish the program did/had/taught? Courses entitled: "How to run your own studio: Accounting + Business Ethics + Being broke" -or- "This is how to set up an online portfolio and sell yourself to the world." -or- "Here are other ways to be a graphic designer besides working in a big firm and here are examples of people who are doing just that." Also ten million dollars for a new building with a plotter printer that everyone could use for free!
What do you think the graphic design student group should do this year? Hang out more! Make more things together like a collaborative zine or a movie or...

I do believe all the ideas you have presented to your post. They're very convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are very brief for novices. May just you please lengthen them a little from next time? Thanks for the post.
