Seeking submissions for the inaugural show of Recess Gallery, an artist-run center located in the ground level of the Artistery and dedicated to nurturing emergent, experimental contemporary practices.
Submissions
should explore artists’ renditions of “recess”: from the deep recesses
of the mind and body, to recess as a break in time or playful activity,
to works pertaining to economic recession. Interactive work, or
otherwise work that engages the public, will be typically encouraged at
Recess Gallery, but specifically for this first show in its ability to
reflect the playtime of grade school. Recess Gallery imposes no
limitation on media type, however, works should be considerate of
transportability to make way for alternative purposes and events held in
the space. The prospective date of this opening is June 5th,
and submissions must be received no later than May 14th.
